How Family Shaped My Mission as Your Insurance Matchmaker

Peachie Thompson · May 26, 2025

People often ask me why I'm so passionate about insurance. As the founder and owner of Peach Insurance Services here in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, my team and I serve fee-only financial planners and their clients nationwide. But my passion is not just about professional expertise-it's deeply personal, rooted in family experiences that forever changed how I view the importance of proper insurance guidance.

Watch my video message here:

From the Philippines to Insurance Underwriting My journey began in the Philippines before my father, and I immigrated to the United States in the 1990s. Like many immigrants, I worked during the day and attended school at night while carefully saving every dollar. I was fortunate to land a job in underwriting at a major insurance company, where I was trained in all the technical aspects of life insurance, long-term care, and disability insurance.

This technical underwriting background became the foundation that makes me the perfect insurance matchmaker today. Understanding how policies are constructed, what carriers look for, and how to navigate the underwriting process gives my team and me a unique advantage in finding the right coverage for each client's specific situation.

The Moment That Changed Everything The pivotal moment came when my 65-year-old grandmother in the Philippines tripped and injured her hip. This strong, independent woman suddenly needed hip replacement surgery and eventually long-term care services. In the Philippines, "your family is your long-term care."

I found myself draining my savings account-money I had worked so hard to accumulate as a young immigrant-to pay for her care, medical bills, and funeral expenses.

I remember thinking that it would have been so much different if my grandma had long-term care insurance. Not that I regret writing the check, but imagine being a first generation immigrant, working during the day, going to school at night, saving all this money, and then suddenly having to spend it all because your culture dictates that this is what you must do. The insurance would have paid for everything, if not everything, most of it.

My Father's Wake-Up Call Twenty years later, my father came to me confused about his life insurance policy. After faithfully paying premiums for two decades on what he believed was coverage "for the rest of his life," he discovered the policy now demanded sky-high premiums while cutting his death benefit to almost nothing. There was no cash value he could access.

The worst part? By this time, my father had become uninsurable due to health issues. My father had been misled by an MLM insurance agent who was still collecting commissions from the investments sold to him years earlier. When I confronted this agent-now a successful RVP-her hostile response only strengthened my resolve to help others avoid similar situations.

But here's what made the difference: even though my father was now uninsurable, I was able to fix his existing situation. Using my technical underwriting knowledge and industry relationships, I found a solution that salvaged what seemed like a hopeless case-giving him the coverage he deserved at a price he could afford. The relief and gratitude in his eyes, knowing he wouldn't leave his family with nothing, reminded me why this work matters so much.

**Why I Founded Peach Insurance Services ** These experiences shaped my mission: I wanted to create "the kind of firm that I wish my family had." With 28 years spanning underwriting, brokerage, and working with financial professionals, my technical underwriting background makes me the perfect insurance matchmaker-I know exactly what carriers are looking for and how to position each case for the best outcome.

My team and I provide fee-only financial planners with an insurance resource they can trust completely, because I understand both the technical aspects and the human cost of getting it wrong.

How We Work as Your Insurance Matchmaker My technical underwriting expertise combined with personal experience makes us uniquely qualified. We understand carrier preferences, underwriting guidelines, and how to present cases in the best possible light. This allows us to find the perfect match between clients and carriers, even in complex situations where others might give up.

We avoid industry jargon, focusing instead on helping families use insurance as a tool to protect what matters most. Having watched my own family's savings disappear and seen loved ones confused by insurance products, we prevent the kind of financial devastation that proper guidance could have avoided.

At Peach Insurance Services, my team and I bring personal understanding to every conversation about life, long-term care, disability insurance, and annuities. We simply help families and fee-only planners use insurance to protect what matters most-because I've been on the other side watching savings disappear and seeing loved ones confused, situations that could have been prevented with honest guidance and proper coverage.

A Message to Fee-Only Advisors My personal experience with misleading insurance sales makes me particularly committed to transparency and client-first recommendations. We serve financial planners and their clients nationwide with the same care I wished my family had received.

You'll appreciate that I understand what it means to put clients first, having seen firsthand what happens when agents prioritize commissions over client needs. My technical underwriting expertise means we can navigate complex cases and find solutions where others might give up.

My Promise to You After 28 years in the insurance industry, my team and I make a simple commitment: We are here to stay. This is business longevity-it's also about being the consistent, trustworthy partner that families and their financial advisors can rely on.

My story reminds me daily why proper insurance guidance matters. When I was able to salvage my uninsurable father's insurance situation-finding a solution where others saw only a hopeless case-it proved what's possible when you have someone with the right expertise and determination fighting for you. That's what differentiates Peach Insurance Services: we don't give up, even when situations seem impossible.

At Peach Insurance Services, our understanding is both professional and deeply personal. My technical expertise combined with personal experience makes us the perfect insurance matchmaker for you and your clients.
